I was a little surprised last night when I saw this battle report:

troopsoncrack

I know EC’s are really powerful..but I hadn’t thought they were THIS incredible!

What happened? About 7000 of my troops killed 13,254 (now that I actually calculate it out… it’s incredible!)

“But I thought Travian favored numbers and high quantities?!”

Yes they do… but these bad boys were all upgraded to level 20. Plus the hero was throwing in an extra 10,000 attack + 20% bonus offense.

So UPGRADES ARE KING!!

As are heroes! :-) My hero died at level… 68, which is a bit of a record for me.

When should one start upgrading his hero?(At what stage of the game)

You can start pretty early actually, but even as an offensive player I don’t start until several weeks in.

Ever play Diablo II? We used to bring a level 1 character to the hardest difficulty and then kill monsters that gave 10,000 experience points at a time. This would level up a low level character to 20 or 30 in a relatively short time.

Same goes for Travian. You can do it slowly bit by bit at the beginning, or you can wait a few weeks, focus on raiding and building your villages and then do some bigger attacks later on to bring your hero up to scratch.

Ok thanks but what sort of villages should i attack say when I am 3 moths into the server(regular).& How should I attack?Should I scout the village & find out how many troops etc it has?

Strange why did ‘amp;’ come after ever ‘&’ i typed?

Special characters sometimes do that.

That’s exactly what you should do. Always pick on someone smaller than you. Scout first and then as soon as you have a report (i.e. scounts make it back) send your troops. The more you send, the less you loose. You may even want to throw some rams into your attack to clear the wall if it’s high. The best time to attack is at about 3 – 4am your enemy’s time.

Don’t forget to bring your hero :)
